PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES

Dear Parents, Tuesday, October 15th, 2024 marks the Fall Parent-Teacher Conference from 1:00-7:00.

For elementary-age parents, we will meet in the respective classrooms.

Parents of 6th – 12th-grade students, we will meet in the cafeteria and hallway.

Parents with grade K-5 children, you will receive a letter with a scheduled time slot to meet with appropriate staff members in their respective classrooms. Please take this time to visit with your classroom teachers.

Semester 1 progress reports will be available at this session. Please take note and plan your visit accordingly, especially if you are conferencing for multiple children.

Parent Teacher Conferences provide communication and team building to discuss your child/ren’s academic progress and concerns that both the parent and teacher may have. I hope to see everyone at this important event in your child’s education.

DAY CARE IS AVAILABLE DURING CONFERENCE HOURS: If you have young children, please use this service. Our Student Council will be providing daycare service in Mrs. Connell’s Art Classroom from 1:00-7:00. This will allow fewer distractions when parents and teachers meet during conference time.

Thanks and hope to see you there.

Early Out Information

Parents & Guardians,

As part of the Minnesota Read Act, enacted by the MN Legislature, undersigned by Gov Walz on

5/24/24, beginning July 1, 2024, each district and charter school must provide teachers and

instructional support staff with responsibility for teaching reading with training on evidence-based

reading instruction that the Department of Education approves. There are 3 models each district

had to choose from. The three models are LETRS, CAREIALL, and Core. Climax-Shelly School

decided on the CAREIALL model that was developed by Minnesota State University specifically for this

purpose.

For our staff to participate in the CAREIALL training, we need to add several early releases to

our calendar. We realize that this update could impact numerous households’ work schedules and

routine. An updated district calendar will soon be updated as well. We have worked hard to make this

the least impactful to the families while being the most impactful for our instructional staff.                                                On the following dates we will be releasing at 2:15:

September 18, 2024          November 20, 2024

September 25, 2024            December 4, 2024

October 2, 2024                 December 11, 2024

October 9, 2024                 January 8, 2025

October 16, 2024               January 15, 2025

October 23, 2024               January 22, 2025

November 6, 2024             January 29, 2025

November 13, 2024

Again, we realize this is an imposition to many and we truly appreciate your flexibility.

Do you want to save $20 per student in tech fees?

All you have to do is fill out our free and reduced lunch application. It only takes about 5 minutes.

Filling out the free/reduced lunch application may qualify your student(s) for other benefits such as reduced sports fees.  The application is critical for school funding. The higher the number of qualified applications a school receives, the more revenue a school qualifies for, as this number is part of numerous state and federal formulas built into school funding.  The amount of free/reduced lunch applications for a school is also a factor in determining the number and monetary qualifications for grants and other benefits.  Please take 5 minutes and help yourself and your school.
